Elven Thief

DnD was fun.
Played with some guys I haven't seen in years.
I ended up rolling an elven thief named Leigf Garrot.
Cheesy I know but it was my intention.
anyway, after consideration this is the look I have settled on for him.

DnD

Going to play DnD with some friends this Sunday.
I decided to create a Character sheet to use. The old DnD 2nd Edition sheets are so lame.

also I drew a character. A Halfling Thief.
Here he is.

Anyway, later.

Drew link today. I abandoned the "perfect line" pursuit in favor of a more natural look.

Still day 1

Decided to try Paint Tool Sai.
Did a quick sketch with this rather than Photoshop to see if it was easier.
I can't say it was EASIER, but it was more comfortable.
The quick key for the pen tool (that I used instead of a brush) wasn't the same so the hot key wouldn't work but that was a minor inconvenience.
All in all I liked it and will probably be using it again.

Day 1

Here is my first sketch. Just a character of my own. Something I was comfortable drawing.
It was rough, the not looking at your hand thing still throws me off.

Tablet performance:
For some reason the brush size jumps dramatically every so often creating this large blotch.
Have to invest in a glove or something to keep my hand from dragging on the tablet surface.

Starting new

Hello, my name is Raymond, I am a 42 year old graphic artist who has always enjoyed drawing and sketching. I very much admire those artists such as Mike Krahuklik (Penny-Arcade), Scott Kurtz (PVP, Table Titans), Phillip M. Jackson (Sequential Art, Battle Bunnies) and so many others who have made the move to digital drawing devices. I understand these devices will not make you a better artist (though with undo's it can't hurt) but rather make you a faster artist.

I have just purchased a Huion H610 graphics tablet. This is not my first tablet, I had a Wacom Intuos2 tablet for years. It is a small (5x3ish) sized tablet that I never had the patients to master. The H610 has a 10x6 active area so I have high hopes. I purchased this tablet after seeing several customer reviews singing its praises on the web. That coupled with the fact that it was $300 cheaper that the comparable Ituous from Wocom.

My hope is through daily use and the treat of public shaming for slacking off I can grow to master this device. I plan to sketch nearly everyday for at least a couple hours the post what I created here so I can track my progress.

Wish me luck.
